This weeks focus has been on a paper flower rose bud and how to make a realistic centre for the rose. The aim is to make a Big Paper Rose in Bloom as a real show stopper for a decorative piece of wall art. The size of the finished paper flower rose will be about 12-14” wide and approximately 20″ when the foliage is included!
After starting to make the template it became clear that there is actually quite an art to getting a petal cone to curl tightly at the top in order to look like a realistic floral bud. Today was spent designing a template that makes it much easier to create a tight bud to curl the petals around. The solution was a cone based design, as it provided the paper flower a much stronger base to build the petals around.
