How to know when to change your Cricut Blade
‘How to know when to change your Cricut Blade’ is always a very difficult question. Fable & Guild adhere to this following check list that helps us maximise the life span of our Cricut blades:-
Fable & Guild Blade Check List
- check that your Cricut settings are optimised for your chosen material.
- check that your pressures are set correctly in Cricut Design Space.
- make sure your Cricut cutting mat is not too sticky as this can cause drag.
- try alternative settings such as ‘intricate cut for cardstock’ from the materials menu setting in Cricut Design Space.
- ensure that your adhesive Cricut cutting mat is completely clear of any previous cutting residue.
If you have exhausted the check list above and still experiencing poor cuts from your SVG cut files, then you may want to consider changing your Cricut blade.
However, we do have a tip to help extend the life of your Cricut blades…
Tip:
We always have two blades on the go at any one time. We keep one blade for cutting cardstock and vinyl and a second blade for cutting other or more coarse materials such as glitter card. We find this gives us more confidence in the blade when cutting very fine and intricate SVG cut file designs. A good thing to remember is that the end of a life blades life is always frustrating as you experience a couple of bad cuts before you realise the blade needs changing!
We hope this post assists you with your decision in How to know when to change your Cricut Blade.
